Exercise guide

Rope Crunch

The Rope Crunch is a kneeling cable exercise that trains the abdominals through spinal flexion. The rope provides adjustable resistance while the hips and arms maintain the setup.

Training context

Using Rope Crunches in a Workout

Rope crunches can provide progressively loaded abdominal work after larger compound exercises or within a focused trunk section. The cable height and kneeling distance should stay consistent between sessions.

Twisting versions are separate variations. Establish a controlled straight crunch before adding rotation.

Technique overview

Bring the ribs toward the pelvis

Kneel far enough from the pulley to maintain tension and hold the rope near the head. Keep the hips relatively still as the ribs curl toward the pelvis. Pause without pulling through the arms, then return until the torso is upright without allowing the weight stack to slam down.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
