Exercise guide

Sit-Up

The Sit-Up raises the torso from the floor toward the thighs. The abdominals contribute to trunk flexion while the hip flexors also help complete the larger movement.

Training context

Who May Find Sit-Ups Useful?

Sit-ups may suit users who can move through the full torso range without lower-back or neck discomfort. A crunch or dead-bug variation may be easier to control when the larger movement is uncomfortable.

The hands should not pull the head forward. Keeping them across the chest or beside the ears may reduce the temptation to use the arms.

Technique overview

Raise and lower the torso without pulling the neck

Lie with the knees bent and feet supported. Brace and raise the torso toward the thighs through a comfortable range. Lower gradually until the back returns to the floor, keeping the head and neck relaxed throughout.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
