Exercise guide
Standing Cable Lift
The Standing Cable Lift moves resistance diagonally from a low pulley toward the opposite side overhead. The abdominals coordinate the rotation while the shoulders and lower body assist the lift.
Training context
Using Cable Lifts in a Workout
The low-to-high path can be used for rotational strength or as part of a full-body cable circuit. The load should allow the hips, torso, and arms to move together rather than forcing the shoulders to pull alone.
Perform a planned number of controlled repetitions rather than automatically continuing to failure. Match the stance and pulley height on both sides.
Technique overview
Rotate from a stable base
Stand sideways to the low pulley and hold the handle with both hands. Begin with the knees bent and hands near the outside hip, then extend and rotate to guide the cable upward across the body. Pivot as needed and return through the same diagonal path under control.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
