Exercise guide

Hip Adductor

The Hip Adductor machine trains the muscles that bring the thighs toward the midline. The adductors provide the main effort, while the glutes and hamstrings assist with hip and pelvic control.

Training context

How the Hip Adductor Machine Differs

The machine provides resistance directly against the inner-leg movement and supports the torso in a seated position. The starting width can usually be adjusted, so use a range that feels manageable before adding load.

Avoid allowing the weight stack to pull the legs apart quickly. Record the seat position, starting width, and machine used when comparing workouts.

Technique overview

Bring the pads together without rocking the torso

Sit with the pelvis and back supported and place the legs securely against the pads. Draw the thighs inward through a comfortable range without leaning forward or jerking the handles. Pause briefly, then control the outward return. Stop before the machine forces the hips into an uncomfortable starting width.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
