Exercise guide
Tuck Crunch
The Tuck Crunch is a bodyweight abdominal exercise performed with the hips and knees flexed above the torso. The abdominals lift the shoulders and upper back while the legs remain relatively still.
Training context
Benefits of the Tuck Crunch
Holding the legs in a tucked position creates a clear reference for the torso movement and reduces the temptation to use a large sit-up range. The exercise can be made easier by placing the feet down or supporting the legs.
Keep the leg position consistent throughout the set. Stop when the legs begin swinging, the neck takes over, or the torso can no longer lower smoothly.
Technique overview
Lift the shoulders without moving the legs
Lie face up and position the thighs above the hips with the knees bent. Cross the arms over the chest and gently brace the abdomen. Lift the shoulders and upper back through a controlled range, pause, and lower slowly. Keep the legs steady and avoid pulling the chin toward the chest.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
