Upright Row - With Bands

The Upright Row with Bands raises the handles close to the body while band tension increases through the movement. The traps provide the primary emphasis, with the shoulders assisting as the elbows travel outward.

Training context

Using the Band Upright Row in a Workout

Band length and foot position determine the starting tension and how quickly resistance increases. Inspect the band before use and stand on it evenly so one side does not pull harder than the other.

Use a shoulder-friendly range rather than forcing the handles toward the chin. Record the band and stance used when comparing sets.

Technique overview

Keep both sides of the band even

Stand securely on the center of the band and hold the handles with an overhand grip. Lead with the elbows as the hands rise close to the torso. Stop at the highest comfortable point, then lower the handles slowly against the increasing pull of the band. Avoid shifting the feet or leaning backward to finish the repetition.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
