Exercise guide
Wrist Roller
The Wrist Roller uses repeated wrist rotation to wind a rope and raise a hanging weight. The forearms provide the primary effort, while the shoulders hold the roller in position.
Training context
Setup Cues for the Wrist Roller
The rope, weight, and roller must be securely attached before the set begins. The load should hang with enough clearance to rise and fall without contacting the feet or floor unexpectedly.
Holding the arms at shoulder height can fatigue the shoulders before the forearms. A supported wrist-roller station may help keep the exercise focused on the intended area.
Technique overview
Control both the winding and lowering phases
Hold the roller securely and begin with the rope fully extended. Alternate the wrists to wind the load upward without using large elbow or shoulder movements. Once the weight reaches the top, reverse the wrist action and lower it gradually. Do not release the roller or allow the rope to unwind freely.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
