Exercise guide
Cable Standing Hip Abduction
Cable Standing Hip Abduction moves one leg away from the body against low-pulley resistance. The hip abductors and glutes control the outward movement while the opposite leg supports the body. A stable hand support can keep balance from limiting the exercise.
Training context
Before adding Cable Hip Abduction
The exercise can be used as direct outer-hip work or as a lighter accessory movement after lower-body training. Resistance should remain modest because the working leg acts as a long lever.
Stand at the same distance from the pulley on both sides and keep the cuff secured above the ankle.
Technique overview
Move the leg without shifting the base
Stand sideways to the cable with a soft bend in the stance knee. Move the cuffed leg outward while keeping the toes and pelvis facing forward. Pause briefly, then return slowly without allowing the foot to cross behind the stance leg. Reduce the range if the torso begins to lean.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
