Calf Press On The Leg Press Machine
The Calf Press on the Leg Press Machine uses the sled as resistance while the ankles raise and lower the heels. The calves perform the movement as the legs remain extended with the knees softly unlocked. The machine supports the torso and removes most balance demands.
Training context
Who may find the Leg Press Calf Raise useful?
This variation can suit lifters who want to train the calves with heavier resistance while remaining seated. The leg press also makes the load easy to adjust and track.
Foot placement requires care because only the balls of the feet rest on the lower edge of the platform. Use the machine safeties whenever its design allows and keep the feet far enough onto the platform that they cannot slip.
Technique overview
Keep the feet secure on the platform
Set the sled and place the balls of your feet on the lower platform with the heels free to move. Keep the knees steady as you press through the forefoot and raise the heels. Pause briefly, then lower through a controlled stretch. Do not bounce, lock the knees forcefully, or allow the feet to slide downward.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
