Exercise guide
External Rotation with Band
Band External Rotation trains shoulder control with elastic resistance. The elbow stays bent and pressed against the side while the forearm rotates away from the torso. Band tension increases as the hand moves farther from the anchor.
Training context
Muscles worked by Band External Rotation
The shoulder's external rotators create the movement while the rest of the shoulder and upper back stabilize the arm. A small pad held between the elbow and torso can provide feedback when the upper arm begins moving.
Use light band tension. Stepping too far from the anchor can overpower the small working muscles and pull the elbow from position.
Technique overview
Rotate the forearm without moving the elbow
Set the band at elbow height and stand with the working side away from the anchor. Hold the elbow against the torso with the forearm across the abdomen. Rotate the hand outward through a comfortable range, pause, and return slowly. Keep the torso facing forward and inspect the band before use.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
