Front Dumbbell Raise
The Front Dumbbell Raise lifts one weight at a time in front of the body. The shoulders raise each arm while the opposite dumbbell lowers toward the thigh. Alternating sides creates a continuous rhythm but requires the torso to remain still.
Training context
Benefits of the Alternating Front Raise
Alternating arms allows attention to remain on one side at a time and may make it easier to notice differences in control. The resting arm also receives a brief break while the opposite side lifts.
The dumbbell only needs to reach approximately shoulder height. Raising it higher is not useful if the shoulder shrugs or the torso leans backward.
Technique overview
Keep the torso still as the arms alternate
Stand with the dumbbells in front of the thighs and elbows softly bent. Raise one arm forward to a comfortable shoulder height as the other remains controlled. Lower it while beginning the opposite side only if the transition stays smooth. Avoid using the hips or lower back to create momentum.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
