Exercise guide
Internal Rotation with Band
Band Internal Rotation is a shoulder exercise performed with the elbow bent and held against the side. The hand begins away from the torso and rotates inward against the band's resistance. The movement is small and generally suited to controlled shoulder work rather than heavy loading.
Training context
Benefits of Band Internal Rotation
The band provides portable resistance and becomes more challenging as it stretches. A small pad between the elbow and torso can help the athlete keep the upper arm from drifting.
The band should be anchored at elbow height and inspected before use. Excessive resistance can cause the torso to rotate instead of the shoulder.
Technique overview
Rotate the forearm while the elbow stays still
Stand sideways to the anchor with the working arm closest to it. Bend the elbow to 90 degrees and hold it beside the torso. Rotate the hand inward across the front of the body, pause, and return slowly. Keep the shoulders level and use only the range that remains comfortable.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
