Jump Rope
Jump Rope is a rhythmic cardio exercise that uses repeated low jumps while the wrists turn the rope. The calves provide much of the repeated spring, while the quadriceps absorb the landings and the shoulders help position the arms.
Training context
Benefits of Jump Rope
Jumping rope can develop coordination, foot rhythm, and cardiovascular conditioning in a small training area. Speed and work intervals can be adjusted easily once the basic pattern is consistent.
The rope should be long enough to clear the feet without requiring wide arm circles. Beginners may practice single turns or imaginary-rope jumps before longer intervals.
Technique overview
Jump only high enough to clear the rope
Hold the handles beside the hips with the elbows close to the body. Turn the rope mainly from the wrists and use small, quiet jumps. Land softly and allow the knees to bend slightly. Stop when repeated misses or heavy landings disrupt the rhythm.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
