Exercise guide

Kettlebell Seated Press

The Kettlebell Seated Press is performed from the floor with the legs spread comfortably in front of the body. Removing assistance from the legs places greater emphasis on the shoulders and triceps while the trunk maintains an upright position.

Training context

Benefits of the Seated Kettlebell Press

The seated position makes lower-body drive difficult and exposes whether the athlete can press overhead while maintaining trunk control. It also requires enough hip mobility to sit upright without rounding heavily.

Use a raised seat or supported variation if the floor position prevents a stable torso. The bell should be cleaned before sitting when bringing it from the floor cannot be done safely.

Technique overview

Press without leaning away from the bell

Sit tall with the legs placed comfortably and the kettlebell in a secure rack. Press upward until the arm reaches a stable overhead position. Keep the ribs and torso controlled rather than leaning to the opposite side. Lower the bell slowly back into the rack.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
