Exercise guide
Leverage Shoulder Press
The Leverage Shoulder Press uses machine arms to guide an overhead pressing path. The shoulders provide the main effort while the triceps extend the elbows.
Training context
Before Adding the Leverage Shoulder Press
Adjust the seat so the handles begin near shoulder height without requiring the elbows to move far behind the torso. The backrest should support the body throughout the press.
Grip and machine design affect the path. Use the handle position that allows the wrists and shoulders to remain comfortable.
Technique overview
Press overhead without leaning away
Sit with the back supported and handles near the shoulders. Press upward until the arms reach a stable extension without shrugging or arching sharply. Lower the handles slowly to the starting position while keeping the elbows beneath the hands.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
