Exercise guide
Peroneals Stretch
The Peroneals Stretch uses a strap to guide the sole of the foot inward. This position may stretch the fibularis muscles along the outside of the lower leg rather than the larger calf muscles at the back.
Training context
Before Adding the Peroneals Stretch
The ankle should move through a small, gentle inversion range. Pulling aggressively can irritate the ankle or overstretch tissues that help stabilize the outside of the joint.
The strap should remain around the forefoot without slipping. Stop for sharp ankle pain, numbness, or tingling.
Technique overview
Guide the foot inward with light strap tension
Sit with one leg extended and the strap secured around the foot. Keep the leg relaxed and draw the inside edge of the foot toward you gradually. Hold a mild stretch along the outer lower leg, release the tension slowly, and switch sides.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
