Posterior Tibialis Stretch

The Posterior Tibialis Stretch uses a strap to guide the foot outward into eversion. This may create a mild stretch through the posterior tibialis and nearby tissues along the inside of the lower leg.

Training context

Understanding the Posterior Tibialis Stretch

The posterior tibialis helps support the arch and turn the sole inward. Guiding the foot gently in the opposite direction may place the muscle under stretch.

The available range at the ankle is small. Pulling harder is not better and may irritate the foot or ankle.

Technique overview

Guide the outside of the foot toward you gradually

Sit with one leg extended and secure the strap around the forefoot. Keep the heel free and gently draw the outside edge of the foot toward you. Hold a mild sensation along the inner lower leg, then release the strap slowly before changing sides.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
