Exercise guide
Reverse Machine Flyes
Reverse Machine Flyes use a guided machine path to train the rear shoulders. The supported seat and handles reduce balance demands and make the working range easier to repeat.
Training context
Using Reverse Machine Flyes in a Workout
The exercise can follow pressing or rowing work as direct rear-shoulder training. It may also be used early in a session with light resistance when the goal is controlled shoulder movement.
Machine designs vary, so handle position and seat height should be recorded when they significantly change the starting angle.
Technique overview
Keep the arms softly bent throughout the arc
Adjust the seat so the handles align near shoulder level and establish a comfortable starting stretch. Move the arms outward and back in a semicircle without straightening or bending the elbows further. Pause before the shoulders shrug, then guide the handles forward slowly.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
