Exercise guide
Seated Front Deltoid
The Seated Front Deltoid stretch moves the straight arms behind the torso while a partner controls the wrists. The position may stretch the front shoulders and chest.
Training context
Understanding the Front Shoulder Stretch
The drill uses an isometric effort followed by a small assisted increase in range. The partner should prevent movement gently rather than overpowering the athlete.
The shoulders are vulnerable when the arms are pulled behind the torso. Pain, pinching, numbness, or tingling are reasons to stop immediately.
Technique overview
Keep partner pressure light and predictable
Sit upright with the arms extended to the sides and slightly behind the body. Press forward gently against the partner's hands without actual movement, then relax. The partner may guide the wrists backward only a small amount while the elbows remain straight and comfortable.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
