Exercise guide
Shoulder Press - With Bands
The Band Shoulder Press trains the shoulders and triceps against resistance that increases as the bands stretch. The standing position also requires the trunk and legs to maintain balance.
Training context
Before Adding Band Shoulder Presses
Inspect the band for cracks, thinning, or damaged handles before every session. Both feet should secure the band evenly so one side cannot slip free.
Band resistance rises near the top. Choose a band that allows the arms to finish overhead without leaning backward or losing control.
Technique overview
Press overhead and control the band back down
Stand evenly on the band and hold the handles near shoulder height. Brace the torso and press upward through a comfortable path. Stop with the handles controlled overhead, then lower slowly until the hands return to the shoulders.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
