Exercise guide

Shoulder Raise

The Shoulder Raise is a simple movement in which the shoulders lift toward the ears and return to a relaxed position. It moves the shoulder blades through elevation and depression.

Training context

Before Adding Shoulder Raises

This drill can be used as a gentle warm-up or movement break. It should not be treated as a maximum shrug or forced stretch.

Keep the arms, jaw, and neck relaxed. Reduce the range when lifting the shoulders causes discomfort or headache symptoms.

Technique overview

Lift and release without circling

Stand or sit tall with the arms relaxed. Raise both shoulders gently toward the ears, pause briefly, and lower them under control. Keep the head centered and avoid rolling the shoulders forward unless performing a separate shoulder-circle drill.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
