Exercise guide
Side Neck Stretch
The Side Neck Stretch uses a small lateral head tilt to lengthen muscles along one side of the neck. The shoulders remain relaxed and level throughout the position.
Training context
Keeping the Neck Stretch Controlled
The weight of the head may provide enough stretch without using the hand. Any assistance should be extremely light and applied without pulling or twisting.
Stop immediately for pain, dizziness, headache, numbness, tingling, or symptoms traveling into the shoulder or arm.
Technique overview
Let the head tilt rather than pulling it down
Sit or stand tall with both shoulders relaxed. Tilt one ear gently toward the same-side shoulder without turning the chin. Hold a mild stretch, return to center slowly, and repeat on the other side.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
