Smith Incline Shoulder Raise
The Smith Incline Shoulder Raise uses an incline bench and fixed bar path to emphasize movement around the shoulder girdle. The shoulders are listed as primary, with the chest assisting from the incline position.
Training context
Why the Incline Setup Matters
Bench placement determines whether the bar begins directly over the shoulders and can move without forcing the arms forward or backward. The movement should be compact rather than treated like a full incline press.
Use a light load until the intended shoulder-blade motion is clear. Reposition the bench when the fixed path feels uncomfortable.
Technique overview
Keep the arms steady as the shoulders move
Lie on the secured incline bench with the bar over the shoulders and elbows softly extended. Without bending the elbows into a press, reach the bar slightly upward by allowing the shoulder blades to move around the rib cage. Pause briefly, return to the supported position, and rack the bar carefully after the set.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
