Straight Raises on Incline Bench
Straight Raises on Incline Bench are performed face down with the torso supported and the bar hanging beneath the bench. The shoulders lift the bar forward while the traps assist in controlling the shoulder girdle.
Training context
Why Straight Raises on Incline Bench Can Be Useful
The incline bench reduces the opportunity to generate momentum with the hips or lower back. That makes a light load and deliberate arm path more important than raising the bar through the largest possible range.
The bench angle, grip width, and available clearance all affect the movement. Set the bench securely and confirm that the bar can travel without contacting the frame, floor, or head of the bench.
Technique overview
Raise the bar without lifting the chest
Lie face down with the chest supported and take a secure overhand grip. Keep a slight, fixed bend in the elbows as the bar is raised forward through a comfortable shoulder range. Avoid lifting the torso from the bench or shrugging abruptly. Lower the bar slowly until it hangs beneath the shoulders again.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
